I've had one for 4 years and have a had couple of electrical gremlins like the dashboard display telling me to close the sunroof which I don't have. Otherwise it's been great, not quick of the mark due to a bit of turbo/auto transmission lag, but once on the move it's quite torquey and is reasonable to drive but not as sharp as BMWs I've previously owned. Major plus is in 28000 miles I've averaged 38 mpg and can get around 50 on a motorway waft.
I had one for three years and 100k miles and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had replaced an old shape CLK200 Kompressor and the additional torque (similar bhp) was very welcome. The only problem I had was a leaking heater matrix at around 80k miles which meant the entire interior had to be removed just to replace the faulty part - all had got very wet. The total bill was around £1,200.
I used it mostly on motorway trips to work (100 miles per day) and it was perfect for the task. I averaged 46 mpg and on a long run at legal motorway speeds I could easily get over 60 mpg.
It isn't the most sporty handling car but if you want a lazy motorway cruiser that is economical then I would highly recommend one. Since I now live close to work, and have therefore greatly reduced my mileage, I traded it in for an SLK280 AMG Sport (limited edition produced last year) and now have a toy to use at the weekends.
