need help maybe? just bought a SL60

juat bought this, v v cool, but the V5 says SL500, not SL60, garage says dont worry, they were registered as SL500 then converted?

anyone know the details here?

Very nice car, looks like a real stormer. Can't help with the ID but try these guys www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/index.php a chap who goes by the name of Stats seems to know all there is to know about the R129.

IIRC that's right, at least for early SL60s like your example.
They were bought as 500s and then modified by AMG.

It's much the same story with the R129 SL73 being listed as SL600s

ETA: From what I understand, a garage like Beaulieu would certainly do their homework, so if they sold it as an SL60, it's an SL60
