Anybody know if this was standard fit or an optional extra ,http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mercedes-W124-Speedo-Outside-Temperature-gauge-OTG-MERC_W0QQitemZ180235365506QQihZ008QQcategoryZ10398QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem on a w124 coupe . Mine has the little screen in the middle of the pod but im not sure if its just a blank or if its not working and gone black . Where would the sensor be located if it is fitted ? Thanks.

Don't know much about W124's (there are a few devotees on here), but I'd guess if the window for the display is present, then the display should be there.

It may be worth referencing the model on the post title, to get some attention.

All the W124s had the window, OTG or not. If the backlight goes on with the sidelights, but no temp display, then it probably has a broken OTG. If no backlight then probably no OTG

You can check your VIN online to see what was fitted from the factory:

If I remember correctly the sensor is behind the front number plate, at least I think it was on the 190s. Worth a look and if I am wrong I guess someone will say so.

Cheers guys, i checked the VIN code and its not listed . I wonder if the wiring would be all in place and its just a case of fitting the sensor and dash unit ?Probably not i suppose , if that was the case it would be quite cheap to find a breaker and buy allsorts of upgrades .
