More stylish 190 alternative?
Discussion
Hi Folks
I previously had a cheap 190 which was great in all aspects apart from it being Almondine (Pink to my friends) and the fact that the head gasket failed in a terminal manner.
I was thinking about another to get me to and from work and crucially, to tow the track toy around. But, I really like the slightly older Mercs and wondered if there was anything as reliable and rust resistant that might also be available for sub-£3k.
Any ideas?
TIA

Tim , have a look at my blue 300TE in the classifieds - it`s mint and ready to go and even has the tow bar and electrics !
The 3 litre 6 doesn`t have reliability issues and the driving experience soothes shattered nerves at the end of a session on the track . There`s acres of space in the back and (restored) self levelling suspension to ensure the race car can have an easy ride home too . This particular car would fit in at any paddock from Goodwood to grasstrack as it`s probably the smartest W124 on the market at the moment
I`d be pleased to hear from you if this is the kind of thing you`re after ( px classics considered !)
I sincerely hope this hasn`t breached advertising rules - but he did ask !
regards to all ,

A 280 or 320 W124 estate will tow pretty much anything and a good one will be reliable & cheap to run. The 300 is the same but, as an older design of engine, is not as economical
