Something 55 AMG - purchasing options

Hi all,

I hoping to get an AMG later this year, ideally something with the 5.5 V8 lump in it.

I'm hoping to have around £30K to spend and so far have been tempted by the E55 AMGs (around 2004). But what about spending a lil' more and getting an SL55 (2002'ish), or a CL55.

If any of you have an opinion you're willing to share I would appreciate it.

Also, what options would you consider 'must haves' or 'live withouts' when looking for such a car, what are any common faults ? Market permitting I'll try and find something with a maintained MB warrany.

So, any comments/suggestions are most welcome as it will help me detemine how much of my 'hard-earned' to plough in to my new car fund over the next few months.

I understand on SL55s the suspension can be problematic.

As for the CL55, it is fecking huge. What about the CLK55? Or perhaps a CLK63? (Dunno if they are in your price range.)

I doubt I could stretch to a 63 - though it would be nice.

I was hoping to get something with its feet well and truely in the 400+ BHP camp. I fancy something a bit silly as traditionally I've had more mundane cars.

Ah. Then SL55 is probably your best bet, I think.

My vote goes for the CLK55 cab,but then Im biased cos Ive got one.Great noise at higher revs with the roof down!
