It could be a clutch problem or valve chest?
I would say its a new gearbox or rebuild of your one. If bought through Mercedes they are around £2,500.

If you have the auto box, i believe there is a filter in the gearbox which can be changed/cleaned along with an oil change, this might help. How easy it is to do youself, is another matter, but it will certainly be cheaper than a new box. I would certainly try this before diving in for a new gearbox.

What are you exactly looking to be told?

An oil and filter change is probably going to be the cheapest fixes you can have apart from stripping the box down or having a recon one fitted. Bite the bullet and take it to someone who actually knows what they are looking at, let them take it out for a test drive, they will know more than punters on here throwing in there 2 pence worth, if you dont know then find a man who does.

I know plenty of people who know, may book her in soon as! it has had a full survice not so long ago but clearly left the gear box out!

Theres a great deal of technical expertise. Could be fluid related, faulty piston, poor vacuum - they'll be able to offer sound advice, they're all DIY'ers there.
