Thinking of having some upgrade work done at DMS on my SL55 AMG. Anyone used these for their cars and if so, what did you think of the work they done and also the results you got from their upgrades.
I am looking at the ecu upgrade which includes the smaller pulley on the supercharger and a full de-limit.

Tony.

Not been to DMS but like you Tony I`m contemplating going. I spoke to them re prices etc last week.My interest at this stage lies in the module that allows more control over the ABC suspension , quoted price was 1700 gbp.
I`m new to the SL55 (10 days only) so now quite happy with the power/torque figures as they are . Mine`s an 03 with 26 thousand miles, a solid 12 month Merc warranty supplied.

Initial thoughts regarding the car are extremely positive.!

I would suggest driving your SL55 good and hard for a few months before spending the best part of £2k on the suspension. They handle pretty well on standard settings! Unless you're just going for the lowered look rather than handling changes?

I believe the suspension automaticly lowers itself depending on the speed you attain , so looks are not a consideration.
I`ve come from an AM V8V ( 996 tt , 360 F1 etc ) so now getting used to the slower steering rack, among other things.
I was informed by DMS that the changes made by the fitting of the module improves turn in.

Duncan , have you replaced the brake discs yet,..... driving hard as you do wink

hehe Not yet! (Not using the brakes much biggrin )The reason I made this comment was driving in Spain on Eurohoon last year - the turn in and general handling were amazing for such a big car, and grip was fantastic even without TC kicking in. Even though it's got an auto box, the SL55 is a hidden gem of a sports car, and I think underestimated by people because it's a fat cat Merc. If the intercooler pump had been working, it would have been even more fun! If I were to change anything, I'd go for the ECU upgrade and smaller S/C pulley to fatten up the already considerable mid-range. An upgrade to the gear box software to make changes more snappy, and to stop it changing gear unless you tell it to, would also help. Losing 400Kg would be a bonus as well!

Just shows what a bolide the 55 is , ten seconds to one hundred with that cargo aboard .

Hallo Duncan

Both of us agree with you :-))) AMG's are not soooo slow and are underestimated,
but we would like some broooom when changing down....I would not alter the
electronic set-up it is largely up to its task, but of course you can get some
lowering software,,,,what for??? It is still fast "enough" and you do not loose an engine in some...conditions ;-))

Hopefully see you at the Megawaveywavey

HI Rainier and Dot - I'll not be doing Megahoon this year - too much going on at work. Hopefully next year! I'm trying to persuade my wife to do Rheimshoon this year though....
