Been looking on the market for a nice Merc for a while now and money starting to burn a hole, ive spotted a nice CLK 500 for sale near to my home town... going to look next week.

Is there any nasties i should be looking for, i know about fuel consumption and im sure servicing is not in the Fiat Panda league, that doesnt bother me, are there any hidden or known faults that normally go wrong on these?

Any thoughts or suggestions as to why i should not buy one?

Cheers

It would take too long for me to explain. More power, stiffer suspension, bigger brakes (a must for me) and a host of other things. I need the car to do road and track, maybe your requirements are different. I was tempted myself with a cheap 500, but stuck out and got the 55.
Good luck.

With all those extras what would you say was a comparable difference in price for a car of similar year, condition and milage?

Sorry to be a pain, i just need to know, if its only a small amount for a load of goodies then i might be able to join you.

Sorry phumy, you will have to do your own homework on that one. I am not an expert. I chose a high mileage 55 over a low mileage 500 and don`t regret it as I have almost enough power. I thought the car I went for seemed good value and that was that. Others would argue that a high mileage car would be asking for bigger repair bills, but why as it is a mercedes?
