Hello all

Can anyone help?
I have just bought a c36 amg in excellent condition but was shocked when someone pointed out to me when filling up with petrol a small amount of fuel was leaking from under the car!!! as soon as i stop filling up it the leak stops?
At a guess I would say it was the neck of the fuel tank that is leaking.
Does anyone know if this is common or have I just been unlucky...
And any quick fixes or suggestions would be great..

Many thanks

Stu

You sure you didn't over fill the tank, and it was just the overflow pipe draining it hehe

Seriously, I can't help much. It's not something I've heard of before confused

Stu , this happened to mine and it`s nothing serious . Take the right hand rear wheel off an you`ll see a 3/4 inch diameter rubber pipe running next to the main filler pipe from the filler cap to the tank .
This will have a small split in it which allows fuel to spill out when you`re filling it up . It`s held in place withtwo jubilee clips and replacing it is a 10 minute cheap job . What also happened with mine (1996 C36) is that the fuel collected in the plastic cover for the lower suspension arms so you could smell the petrol after filling up and replacing the cap .

Enjoy the car - they`re a blast . (Mines the red one in the AMG classifieds to fund a 911 later in the year ) Micky

Alright Micky.

Thanks for that, going to have a look now.
Were did you get the replacement pipe from?

Also think I might have emailed you about your car.
Got one now as you can see.
Sold my 944s2 on sunday found c36 sunday night just a few miles past heathrow, travelled through the night with a really good friend from Edinburgh to beat someone else to the car.
I have found a mint silver 4 speed model and am so far delighted with it.

Good luck selling your motor

Cheers agian

I've done something very similar, went from a 944 S2 to a C43. Didn't travel that far for it though, that takes some dedication!
Enjoy your C36 smile
