SLK 55 AMG what is the MPG like?

Hi I may be looking to buy a new car soon and I love the black SLK55.

But what is putting me off is the engine size. Todays petrol prices are staggering and seriously hurting my pocket.

My old BMW 330 was about 24MPG combined and about 320 for a full tank @ £62.

What is the SLK55 like running wise?

When I had mine ( now sold ) I was getting 26 - 28 on a run and around 22 - 23 combined.

OK, Mine's an E class (same engine, slightly lighter) but never more than 26 on a steady run.

Combined over the last 5,000 miles is showing 19.9

Having said that, loads of fun though.

Are you worried about depreciation? Thats going to make the fuel costs look like pocket money.

Yes depreciation is also a concern. But the fuel one is just as bad.

My SLK55 at 70mph on cruise control has seen 33.4mpg. Superb usualy going to and from work between 21 - 23.5mpg all traffic if you boot it you see a minimum of 16.8mpg. I think its pretty good hence why I bought one.

If you dont like to be hit in the wallet then surely a sports car like an AMG is a bad choice? Go for a diesel.

Mine is doing pretty much the same! I was pleasantly surprised actually as my Honda Accord manages the same MPG - and that's "only" a 2.3!
