Noob Here: MB SL500 AMG 1982

Hi guys, new here so hello and a virtual beer for all.
I'm going to jump straight in. I was looking at through some ads and by total chance came across someone local selling an 1982 SL500 AMG. I have to say I had previously thought about owning a big merc and this one looks pretty sweet. However I don't have experience in what to look out for in these machines either visually or in the associated service history so any advice would be really welcome.

Out of interest, what has AMG added to this car? Did they breathe on the engine or suspension, or is it just a standard car with some AMG bits bolted on?

In fairness I'm not sure (yet). What I understand is that they have done some suspension work and also replaced the wheels and seats. I don't know about the engine yet as I have yet to see the car and the paperwork but haven't managed to speak to the actual owner.

I know that car!
It was owned by a chap on a Mercedes forum I'm part of.
He takes good care of his Mercs. IIRC, he bought that as a standard 500SL, added lowered suspension, the AMG Penta alloys, genuine AMG Recaro seats and upgraded the sound system (I don't know whether he removed this when he sold it on).
