Merc Parts Suppliers
Discussion
Hello,
Anyone got any experience of sourcing Merc spares from the continent. Need a new exhaust centre section for my 89 300SL and they seem to be very expensive, wondered if a day trip to France might save me a few hundred quid.
Alternatively anyone know a good discount supplier of genuine parts (don't think an aftermarket version fo this exhaust exists, neither GSandF or Eurocarparts do them.
Thoughts ?

I sell Mercedes parts at a dealership in the North West, without your car details I guess the bit you need will be £365 + VAT. I doubt you'll save much from the continent, as much of the 'genuine' parts from the suppliers you mention come from South Africa. Your exhaust looks specific to RHD Autos too.

Yep £365 sounds about right, no real objection to this as the original has lasted 19 years, I am just careful / tight with moneyHTH

No worries, I know it sounds like a tidy sum (I'm used to churning out invoices for several thousands all day long) but it is the front section up to the manifold too, the only bit you don't get is the back box. Just be a bit cheeky and ask for a trade price "as you're restoring the car for someone" and you should see the price of a few pints come straight off !
