As the title says - has anyone got one of these systems on their car? If so how do they compare? I've got a 2003 CLK55 AMG and thinking of replacing the exhaust but don't want to if there is no real gain.

Hi,
I have a Carlsson supercharged SLK55 which has Carlsson(Supersprint)headers with sport cats plus the full Carlsson system.
As this was fitted at the same time as the supercharger I cannot say how much performance they would give on their own.
Carlsson estimate the headers/cats/full system on the supercharged car gives at least 25-30bhp and 30ftlbs.
Sound is great -almost a German TVR-and quality looks good as well.
E-mail me offline if you want and I can send you some photos

Thanks for your reply. I tried emailing you but the site suggested your profile didn't allow it! Do post some pictures. The price for the exhaust systems without headers is about £1200 for both Kleeman and Carlsson but I am not sure I would gain much for the spend....(mainly aurally but also in bhp)so 1) was your spend worth it? and 2) do post some pictures.

On an N/A car, don't expect any more than a 5bhp increase if you just change the exhaust. Anything else is just pub talk. It can improve drivability and low end torque a little.

Powerflow could probably do something just as good for half the price.

Hi,
I have sent you an e-mail with some details and figures from my car but in summary:
Full system without headers on N/A car -better sound with minimal bhp/ftlb gains
Headers/sport cats/full system/remap on N/A car expect maybe 20bhp/20ftlb much much better sound and a better thottle response (in spite of auto gearbox)
I had a supercharger fitted as well so cannot judge the benefits on a N/A car but on my car it sounds brutal and drives like a pussycat/tiger depending on how much gas you give.
The headers/cats offer the most benefit on a s/c car according to Carlsson.
I am guessing the headers/cats/remap will nearly treble the cost versus an exhaust system alone
