Some pics of my cars - 190E 2.5-16s
Discussion
Just a few pics to share of my cars, one's an '89 2.5-16 Auto and the other is a '90 2.5-16 Manual. These are often referred to as 'Mercedes Cosworths', due to the fact that the have a Cosworth twin cam cylinder head with 16 valves.
Some photos of my favourite 190E. This is a good original car, less than 100K miles and a full MBSH. The previous owner spent nearly £4K on the last single visit to MB a while ago. Spec is slightly different to my '89 Auto - this car has an outside temperature guage, heated front seats and electric drivers seat. 5-speed manual Getrag gearbox with dogleg layout (1st gear is down to the left, 2nd and 3rd are a straight throw )
I've had this car for nearly 2 years, not sure if I'll ever part with it if I'm honest.

This is the '89 Auto one. I've had this one about 6 months, bought it as a bit of a project and was going to use it as a daily runner.
Since it was bought it's had a fair amount of fettling, I've rebuilt the head, fixed the ASD (electro-hydraulic, limited slip diff system) and had a bit of bodywork done. Sourced some original wheels which I've had refurbished, and gone back to original front indicators and repeators.
Spec includes full leather, electric driver's seat, automatic transmission and illuminated vanity mirrors.

Price vary greatly on these cars depending on a number of factors - condition, mileage, spec etc.
Some of the parts and servicing on these cars are unique to this model and can be quite expensive, so it pays to buy one that is up and together as it will cost you a lot more in the long run if you buy a bad one that is behind on it's upkeep.
There's a pretty nice looking manual 2.5 in the classifieds, similar to mine apart from the leather and auto box etc. That's £3750. There's been a couple of very nice ones up recently, a specialist dealer near me had a lovely 'K' plate 2.5-16, fully loaded with auto, leather, electric seats, air con etc. Lovely, and only 26K miles - but it was £18K
Charles Ironside has a manual red F-plater in with low mileage (circ 50K) up for £10K http://www.charlesironside.co.uk/Action.Lasso?-dat...
There's quite a few on autotrader around the £5K mark, although you really need to view these cars to decide what they're worth
Hope that helps,

Really nice cars Will. I do think that if one can pick a good one up for the right money and ensure that it's very clean under the bodykit these make a great classic car. They can only rise in value and to my mind offer a driving experience that is the equal of an E30 M3 at less than half the price.
I'd be tempted by a mint Evo1 if I had the garage space but I am not parting with the Caterhams....
I've now covered 18,000 miles in my 1986 2.3-16 (I bought it from the original owner with 98,000 on the clock) and it's as sweet as ever - 3 bar oil pressure cold or warm, no OTT rattles from the engine, full leather interior is nicely patinated, acceptable diff' noise, nice gearshift and my girlfriend uses it daily to commute to work and it's behaved perfectly in this cold weather. It also likes greasy deserted roundabouts
In short, what a great car!

Yep I've been very, very close to buying an EVO 1, but I was put off by some rust that I found around the rear screen/boot well, plus a few minor issues and so walked away. They're a bit different to the regular 16vs - steering box is fewer turns lock to lock, fully adjustable SLS and the LHD/manual getrag go together nicely. Engine character is slightly different, they redline slightly higher too. The one I drove was on EVO II wheels and felt very nice indeed with fresh suspension parts (ball joints, spheres etc), I don't regret buying it but I do miss it.
I've got a handful of pictures here of your car from before you had it if you'd like to see them?
Cheers,
Will

Hi Zakh,
W201 190E EVO I and IIs are very rare, I'm sure you must know that?
The cars that I have seen are cetainly not far too expensive for what they are. The rarity and racing pedigree makes them worth the money.
I'm fairly particular over what I buy, obviously an EVO I or II would be more suited to cherishing rather than a daily car.

If I bought one,I would indeed treat it as a "Garage Queen"
