In my completely indecisive attempt to find a new car, I drove a CLK 270 diesel I really liked the look of at a local indy garage.

It's a 52 plate 03 Avantgarde manual in silver with cloth interior. 60k miles on the clock, 16" alloys and seems in good nick.

Thing is at £13k it seems well under the prices on www.wisebuyers.co.uk which I usually find to be pretty accurate. Now the dealer seems pretty straight, and I've seen a very similar 53 plate auto for £14k advertised locally so seems about right, but is there something I should be wary of buying a car like this from an indy dealer?

Any general issues I should look for with a used CLK? (Sorry if this has been through before but the search feature isn't working!)

Cheers smile

A CLK without leather and manual isn't the most desirable. Most would have been spec'd with leather, so maybe that's why the price seems low.

I'd go for the automatic, manual Mercs don't sell very well.

I would echo the above completely, sounds like the specification lowering the resale. I would certainly drive it and see how you get on with the manual.

you will never be able to resell it. I know of one person with the same spec that has been trying to get rid of it for 1.5 years to no avail! It has to be auto with leather or to be at least £3k less than an auto for it to make any sense

Ah, that makes sense as to why it's been there for a while. Another trader locally has a blue 03 plate Auto with grey leather for £14k with the same mileage, now that seems a better idea. Will go for a test drive tomorrow, but even that seems cheap!

The petrol engined 320 is far superior..the diesel is very tractor like...screw the cost..enjoy the car!!
