I got my new e-class yesterday - a '55 plate E320 CDI Avanatgarde with Command.

I've just been quoted £456 including VAT from John Weir Mercedes in Aberdeen to fit an ipod kit and I thought this was pretty steep - anyone else done this and for how much??

Cheers

Hi Iain

I got a new SLK 350 last month and had to pay a similar amount. The problem is that MB still think of their customers as old school who will be happy with a tape deck smile

Thus the work done on a new S class to install iPod is to remove the entire dashboard.... costly!!! I hope that they will eventually catch on that we want the technology to go as far as entertainment as well as all the other innovations you get, like airscarf!

The system is fab though as you control the iPod from the steering whhl buttons and in the SLK the info is displayed in the small screen in the instrument binacle.

UPDATE:

Phoned Western Benz in Edinburgh (150 miles away) and they quoted £340 installed inc VAT so I called John Weir back and they're going to match the price. laugh

Think I'm going to see how much they'll charge to retrofit isofix in the rear seats, anyone done this??
Cheers

hey Jollygreen,

I have an 05 e class with command and my local audio dealer has fitted a nav tv ipod interface for £450 which brings all the ipod information up onto the command unit works really well for me.

I take it the one you are having installed is the mb version which only comes up on the clocks display?

Hope this is of some help.

have no idea why it does that but the one I have installed comes up on the command screen. It is produced by a company called NAV TV
