Can anyone say whether a broken indicator lamp in the side mirror housing is replaced by removing the mirror glass or does the whole mirror pod have to be removed from the door?

Does Mercedes mirror glass just pull off as in other cars?

Thanks for help with this one.

If its an E-class then the whole mirror pod must come off. This is quite easy to do,just requires a flat blade screwdriver, fold the mirrors in,and you will see a slot into which the screwdriver tip goes to release the whole pod.All the electrical connections unclip themselves as you pull the mirror off.

OK, got this one sorted. Car in question was an A-class (new shape).

1. Remove whole mirror pod by bending backwards then forwards. Unclip spring fixing.
2. Gently pull off the mirror glass. Release heating element wires.
3. Remove 3 star screws, then remove motor assembly and unplug from wiring harness.
4. Use 3 screwdrivers to disengage plastic locking tags and pull the 2 pieces of pod apart.
5. Unclip and replace indicator lamp (£20 from the dealer)
6. Reassemble.

A bit of a pantomime, but care and patience probably saved about £50 of the owner's ££ at the dealer!
