I'm looking to change my Audi A4 cab for a Merc CLS 320 CDi but I can't understand why the process is such hard work!

I've never know spending money be such hard work....

You get a 10 minute test drive and then although the retailers are all supposed to be able to get any stock and advertise that they have a stock of 1000 cars, all they really want to do is sell you finance.

When pushed, even though you've been through exactly what you're looking for they try and sell you one of the 2 cars they have sat outside their dealers even though they are silver and you've told them you hate silver....

~Grrrrrr......

And relax......

I had a totally different experience at mine. Could not do enough for me and test drove a few cars and never tried to push a car on the forecourt on me!!!

We have just ordered a new CLS 320CDi, it was built yesterday, and we should pick it up in around 7/10 days, everything to our specification, (Command, parktronic, leather etc etc), salesman couldn't have been more helpful with test drives etc, no p/x, 6% Discount inc accessories....

Mercedes Whitefield (Manchester).....

After all the difficulties and general horse trading I've finaly ordered a new CLS 320CDi today.

Should be with me (well the wife to be precise) in about 8 weeks.

Hope it lives up to expectations...now I wonder what the service dept are like.....?

We factory collected our SLK from Bremen, great experience and the Germans were super friendly even taking us to see the new secret C class production.. But unfortunately I agree with the OP, the service in sales, finance, and service has been totally appalling to date. If it wasn't for the fact my Wife loves the car I'd give them a big fat zero.. It might be a localised dealer issue, but here in the South and talking to a few owners practically all of them have had similar experiences.

What're you asking?
What kind of interest/clientele have you had so far?

Be careful though - there's a story on one of the Merc forums about Mercedes (DC UK) telling a customer on behalf of a dealership that he was banned from that dealership, because he complained.

LOL - does the person banned not have Internet access? I suppose we the car buying public are no longer allowed to complain about poor service. That's hilarious!!

Edited to say: and I thought WE won the war... winkhehe

Unfortunately technology hasn't yet evolved to the point where you can get your car repaired (under warranty) on the web.

I meant that if he was banned from a dealer, he should have at least told all of his "friends and family". wink

I gather said person was not a threatening nutter because I could understand them banning someone in that situation. However if he is just a customer who has received poor service how does complaining about it warrant a banning from MB? I gather there is a lot more to this particular incident! Good job PH has a no naming and shaming policy.

Either way, it's clear there is a number of unhappy MB customers out there, personally I know of two of my friends who have received very average levels of service in the past year or two. MB could really take a lesson from BMW/Porsche dealers who in my experience are far, far better than MB. Sad really.

Obviously you only ever get one side of the story, but the details are here;
http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=40144

I think it's a bit like private schools and their 99.9% exam pass rates - they achieve it by kicking out the poorly performing kids. So what's happening with bonus's linked to customer satisfaction is that MB dealers need to get rid of their complaining customers.
