My dad got me to drive his CLS 320CDi down from Brum to the south today. I just had to post how brilliant it was.
Recently I've had a go in an XK (last week) and SL, but this is leagues ahead of anything else out there. A limo when you want it to be one and a sports car at other times.
Simply Brilliant!

They are lovely, were one of my favourites when I was working at an MB dealer, if only they would put the V8 diesel from the ML/GL420 in it would be just amazing. The AMGs are pretty special too, you don't expect that kind of performance from a decent 4 seater.
If I suddenly come into a load of money a Brabus Rocket will be mine, 811 lbft and 730Hp, 60 in 4 and 227mph top!

Save a few bob and buy the VW version:

would have one on the drive tomorrow if theyd make it a five seater
I had a few customers say exactly the same, there doesn't seem to be any plans to do it though, unlike the R class where everyone wanted a 7 seater and got it.markmullen said:
I presume the thinking is that it differentiates the CLS from the E class and that it would be a bit silly to have 2 very similar mid sized 5 seaters in the range.
So instead they have 2 very similar mid sized 4 door cars, one with 4 seats which costs about 10 grand more than the other one with 5 seats.markmullen said:

The price and styling is the differentiator....removing a useful feature is not! Why not remove 1 wheel and make it a 3 wheeler...that should differentiate it some more!Love the CLS but agree that the lack of a 5th seat must put quite a few buyers off.
Are the CL & CLK Coupes both 5 seaters?
VW will sell you both 4 and 5 seat versions of the Phaeton and I believe that this was their attempt to increase appeal of der uber-Passat! Back to the drawing board I think.....

The CLK is a 4 seater but its justified given its got 2 doors. An option for a 5th seat would be excellent on the CLS. Cant imagine why anyone wouldnt want to take the option! Are the CL & CLK Coupes both 5 seaters?

My CLS55 is now (after 8 weeks) nearly as it should be when collected and I do like it a lot, its very urgent when you want it to be and wafty when not.
I would like a better hi fi - the Harman is not oomphy enough (but the exhaust is a nice alternative), a better gearbox (5 speeder in mine) and it needs 19" wheels (<£4k with tyres) - and the bloody cup holder is driving me nuts as its under my left elbow.
Getting 18mpg on a 11 mile trip to work where I do use the revs when safe to do so
My mates thought of it as a grown up car - the most serious I have had (last three were GS430, 350Z roadster and 730d) and I agree - its a quality machine with a LOVELY back end (quad pipes and chrome)
At LFC on tuesday and a Brabus rocket was in the players car park on German plates - I thought it was a diesel as it had twin pipes - what you would do with more than the 476 bhp I have now is a puzzle as you cant "rag it" anywhere it just goes too fast too quickly so waht can you do with more ooomph ?

Diddy Haman used to have something interesting when he was here - a remember a RUF Porsche last year on german plates that has impossibly wide wheels - 325 section if I remember!
On footballers wages a car is a weeks wages or 2 weeks if your a crap player - there is no aspiration just instant gratification - bitter moi ? - never !!
I go to all home games and some aways - sit in upper centenary, first row on 18 yard line at Kop end - these are corp tickets really and a luxury but its a labour of love - if I couldnt park the car safely I doubt I would go (joke) - I park in Stanley car park which is changing to a park and ride from Manchester (it looks like) as the new stadium work starts so I got a second car park permit to cover me for the second part of the season
