What's it being used for Jack ? I'd only really bother to go up to a 270 if you were pounding the motorway day in day out, the extra poke will come in handy overtaking.
I drive a 1.6 206, at work I jump into a C220 CDI and it's a different world.
If you're coming out of something as lowly as my Pug, you'll be impressed.
A silver diesel is the perfect resale combo too.

Don't *think* a 270 will have much more as standard, but when it was new the owner will have ticked more boxes than a 220 buyer.
I'd always recommend Avantgarde over Elegance trim, as it has firmer more involved suspension. I'd also avoid a manual, auto MB's are much better (save maybe new SLK's) happy hunting !

Have a look on the classifieds here on PH, you might find a specialist near you. MB have big retail sites, you can access these through their website. Autotrader can be a complete mess to look at sometimes, I gave up on it a while ago.
Bear in mind though, if you aren't in an immediate rush, the brand new C Class is being rolled out now. This means more and more used ones will come on the market, prices for the 'old' shape will dip a little before they firm up again when demand sparks up for some bargains.
I'm sure a salesman will pick up on this thread before long.

Hello!
Is it worth getting a C270cdi over a C220cdi? I have up to £10k to spend on one and as it is going to be my First Merc I would like to choose correctly

Your going to be in pre facelift 203's for that money, get the best you can, the 5 cyl 270 is rare compared to the 220 or 320 cdi, 270's do sound nice though, and dont feel that much slower than a 320.
