SLK - sticky roof mechanism
Discussion
Any idea what might be causing or how to fix a sticky roof mechanism on a X reg 230 SLK?
It always opens but when closing it sometimes fails to engage in the windscreen rail catches or if it does the boot will not open or if it does it will not close again even with a hefty shove.
I've lubed all the hinges I can see and the hydraulic reservoir in the boot is full.
I don't think it has been in a rear end smash and poorly repaired either, which may account for something being out of line.

U could also try http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r170-slk-class/ they have loads of examples of roof issues. Very focused on the 170 (I assume it is the older SLK as the newer would be under warranty still)
My 320 Y reg is in County garages Cheltenham at the mo with roof problems. They have a SLK roof specilist there. With the roof to screen problem, close the roof almost and watch the pins giong in to the catches. If these are out of line, a 8mm (I think) socket to loosen the bolts and slide the catch abit.
