Whats this SL55amg worth?

Thanks for helping me with this. Im looking for a SL55amg and a friends dad has the following one. Its an import so i wanted to know if this in a reason for lower price? I believe it was supplied by Romans and had nearly every option and said it listed at 120k.

Its black(special paint apparently)/black, the only bits i asked about which it does have is the pan glass in the roof. Its a late 03 early 04 not sure which yet and has had 2 previous owners and done 34k miles.

I see prices from 42k but these are early cars with highish miles but not imports. The guy is not silly so what is a good price to get this car for.

where did it get imported from? Makes a difference!
In my opinion, it's worth 5% to 10% less than uk spec

I think it was direct from Mercedes in Germany. Its an 03 car. I phoned a few and they seem to be 46ish for an 02/52 car which was also imported from Germany. Is 40 a fair price or is that taking the piss? I dont want to insult the guy but also dont want to pay above what its worth.

A german import will not be worth the same. I know for a fact as my SL500 was a german import, you try selling it in the trade..... If it's mopre than 3 years old, a private buyer will struggle to tell. Reason being, german impoet only comes with a 1 year warranty and uk with 3.

An 04 53 plate is still trading at late £40s and on a merc forecourt you could be paying over £50k.

£43-45k would be a gtood price

Really?...if that were a 996 or 997 you'd be looking at a 10% discount minimum...and chances are high an OPC wouldn't buy it off you. Ever.

Yes the Merc job is pretty sensible in some areas.

Would a merc dealership be happy to buy a german import off you without trying to hit you for " Its still an import " ?

Get the VIN and phone Mercedes UK explaining that you are looking to purchase the vehicle and wish to know what spec and what country it was built for.

I did this once having been offered an SL with an odd spec.

It turned out the car was built for Malaysia with different spec, sump guard etc etc and had been reimported. It was even two years older than the uk paperwork !

Has the vehicle an EU Certificate of Conformity ?

I have just spoken to a Mercedes garage and they have a similar UK car up for 49 ish and you could do a deal at 46. It comes with a years warranty.

He said i shouldnt be paying above 40 for my friends car. I think he is going to be rather insulted if i go in at 38/39k.

Spoke to my friends Dad last night on the phone. He is looking to swap this for a Bentley Mull. He said 50k had been mentioned to him in regards to his car and would like to do a deal with me at 48, i think this is optimistic to say the least. He said he spent 3.5k on the wheels alone and mentioned the special paint and leather interior.

I think im going to offer him 42.5/43... Is this to much? I think the cars worth 40 ish plus the wheels.
