I'm looking to buy an SL500, 2002 - 2004, can anyone recommend an idiots guide to buying one of these cars, specifically the specification , extras, performance data ect.

i'm really looking for some credible data, or recommendations from owners past and present

Thanks, seen this on Autotrader site, but Green !!!!!!, its resisdual value will be hit by that colour

we have just bought one (2003 SL500) only advice - buy one from a dealer - you then get a Merc Warranty which would cover all of the expensive bits!!!

I also wouldn't buy a green car as a rule but this green on that car somehow seems to work really well particularly with the pebble leather (thankfully not specced with a magnolia/beige interior). However I can't imagine this comment is going to change your mind.

Yes , it's worth considering as I have currently have 4.2 Xk8 and I've been wondering if I would disapointed with the performance of the SL500, whats the cost premium for a SL55 ?

Just looked on Autotrader Sl55 AMG start at about 40K, is that right ?
