I have had enough with my Range Rover Classic constantly playing up and so I need another largish car. It is not a daily driver but will have to be comfortable doing long distances (80 miles or so)

I was thinking of an E-class as my father has owned an E (saloon version, and now owns an S) and it was a very good car.

Im thinking of spending about 2.5k ish and have been seeing P-plate high milers for this sort of money. Are these to be avoided? Are there any problems these cars suffer with?

Any help would be much appreciated.

If your bothered about your Range Rover going wrong, the last thing you want to buy is a high mileage early 210 E Class, keep away, your going to buy yourself a lot of hassle.

Ok ben, fair point, I think I may decide to buy something volvo'ish instead or spend a bit more money.

The main problem is rust, but in truth the engines are pretty bulletproof. Get a rust-free one and you'll be ok.
