Hi!

I've just bought a 2004 Smart Roadster cabrio. Which is cool. cool

I'm not overwhelmed with the slow gearchange. Which is not quite so cool. wink

So I'm seriously considering having SmartArse's upgradey thing done - the Venom induction kit, ECU remap, Janspeed exhaust. Has anyone else had this done? Does it make much difference to the transmission response? How do insurers view it?

So many questions, and I've only been on the Mercedes board 5 minutes. hehe

Good choice! In addition to my CLK I also run a Brabus Roadster so know what you're talking about.

To be honest though there isn't a vast pool of knowledge on PH about Smarts so you might be better off posting that question on a dedicated Smart forum.

Some reports I've read have covered Roadsters up from 80 to around 120bhp. Obviously not a great deal if you've been used to TVRs, but on a small car weighing about the same as a shoe with a 700cc engine its impressive.

To be honest, there's not a lot that'll make the gearchange massively better. If you've only just got the car, maybe give it a while first before upgrading?

www.wellsmart.co.uk are very good with smarts and the prices (imho) are keener than other independants.
