just thought i would relate my very good fortune...was browsing auto trader last week and i spot a 1985 280sl, thistle green which had 20k restoration in 2005...hmmmm. went to see it last sunday and looked great, more interested in the file which owner had detailing resto....amazing. so just drove her home tonite and its as good as my old sl driving wise. just gone through the reciepts and this guy is understating what he has done, total of 23k on body work and tiny bits of mechanical stuff.basically he has taken a reasonable pre galvanised car with pretty paint , stripped it and spent a fortune...and i have just robbed it for 7.5k. something has got to be wrong here?????

Sounds good! Piccys please? lick

Low price...due ot high mileage? Rough interior?

Don't forget you'll never get all your money back from a resto, or modifications.

Enjoy the new purchase! 107's are such nice cars!

mileage 121k. interior in great shape but not to everyones taste, green carpets, chequered green cloth with green mb tex on sides...eventually i'll re trim with cream leather. i am hearing you on the not getting your money back on resto stuff but this is a serious hit, work was done in 11/05...and the guy has hardly used it since. car still looks like it came out of the paint shop yesterday. the whole story which this guy has documented does show just how much can be going on underneath presentable exteriors in these cars.never been sure how to post pics on this site, i have an apple and i think it makes it tricky., any hints?

Green interior would certainly hit the resale, as would it being a pre-facelift 2.8 engined car. 121k miles is fine though.
Certainly sounds like a nice car!

As for posting pics, you'd have to upload to a photo site. I use PHOTOBUCKET

Look forward to some pics, soon! thumbup
