SL 55 best place to sell?
Discussion
Its priced at the higher end of the SL55 range for the age, and although it has a good spec the wheels might put people off, do you have the std ones as i know they can have issues running 20" rims.
I myself am looking for an SL55 and have been looking at yours but the No offers statement puts me off
The amount of private individuals with 45k to spend on a private sale is fairly limited hence the trader interest, what they offered, 40k?
I need to sell my Tuscan first anyway before i would start any haggling
Cheers

Agree totally with the above, been looking/ watching the add, but feel it's too high for a private sale in the real world and " no offers" always puts me off!
I was under the impression that being black without the red or light interior added value as there's less of them. It's does have the AMG delimit as well and in car adjustable ride hight and TV phone ect which I beleive all add value... But bottom line is I'd rather borrow the money than take less than £46k for it... as next year it'll still have very low miles so wont have lost much, I hope...... Thanks for the thoughts though guys..... and happy motoring....

The colour and "extras" aren't going to add any value whatsoever, they would just make it more sellable if the price was pitched in the right place.
Surely supply and demand affects cars as well as every other commodity? A Merc dealer told me that black is now very much in vouge and that silver has had it's day and is no longer as desirable so that must affect it's value. As will the extras, such as keyless go command air susp ect, this is according to every kind of price guide and dealers not my gut feel. However, maybe you guys are right and I'll not get the £46k I want but I know I'd rather pay £46k for my black SL55 with keyless go 20" alloys, command ect and low miles than £43k for a silver one that probably wont have them all.... So just maybe someone else out there may feel the same.... If there's not, then I'll just keep enjoying the car and pay for the wedding with a loan for a year or two... Really appreciate all the feed back though guys, and I'm not disagreeing with any of you, it's just to me, I'd rather have the car than 43k....
A lot of the features on the car you mention are completely standard, and most people who have used the widescreen Comand system would never go back to the smaller one. Keyless go is a novelty now and doesn't add anything to the value of the car. 20" wheels aren't a selling point either, it'd sell much quicker with the standard alloys on. The engine delimit sounds exciting too, but I had a choice of two identical cars I know which one I'd assume has had a nice easy life. Maybe leave the delimit off and use it as a dealbreaker.
Rule of thumb is that aftermarket add ons are dead money, doesn't mean you can't enjoy it though !

Arran,
The good news is that the longer you keep it, especially if you maintain a relatively low mileage, the less it will cost you per-year in depreciation. Enjoy the car (it is fantastic) and keep it a while longer. For the money, there's still little that will offer such good value.
Other than the 20" wheels, the options you have are fairly standard, i.e. most cars will have them. Black is a good colour but silver will always sell better. Was the dealer who said "black is so in-vogue at the moment" the one who sold the car to you?
