Hi,

I have just got an SLK 55 AMG. It did not come with Command and i really want it. I contacted Mercedes and they told me that it would costs about £5k. Is there any way of getting this installed by anyone? I have seen a company called mercedes command retrofitting? Has anyone had any experience with these? There are also a few systems on ebay for sale, are these ok to buy and to have fitted? Does anyone know the model number or description for the SLK Command?

Also can the limiters be removed? If so does anyone know who can do this?

Are there any clubs set up for these cars ie SLK/SL/AMG etc?

I would appreciate any advice on the above.

Thanks

Hey i had this in my one. I wanted the newer command system i got put off as they needed a new loom and that was gunna cost me in man hours to fit one. So the fitting of loom may cost a fair bit and apparently a lot of work. Also The limiter is removable but it depends on the year your 55 is( well it was a year or so ago).

Hi chaps - if you go into a Merc showroom, and pick up a copy of the Mercedes owners magazine, there's a company advertising in there who retrofit COMAND systems. or go to this thread and contact this chap who should be able to help. Certainly not £5k from an indie installer.

DMS Automotive is one of many companies who can delimit Mercs, and tweak the power output as well!

There is a place in the North East, Durham way IIRC, that do retrofit COMAND for about £2300 IIRC, can't remember the details at the moment but will try and find them, we had it fitted for some customers and it was indistinguishable from factory fit.

There's a head unit on eBay at the moment:

It will still cost quite a bit to install I expect, but this is likely to be cheaper than a new one I guess.
