How much is this worth?
Discussion
Folks, I'm posting this for my girlfriends father, who has decided to sell his pride and joy, but has no idea what it is worth.
She is a 1980(?) 500 SLC.
The car has been treated to a bodywork and interior restoration and is pristine. It has covered approx 280,000 Kilometers.

Any ideas what it could be worth?
Cheers,
Simon

Wouldn't like to hazard a guess really. I suppose it's worth whatever anyone wants to pay for it..
Have you done the usual Autotrader & other classifieds to compare prices?
Also, may be worth an ask on the MB Owners Forums. Lot of clued up people there, especially on the older/more unusual sort of stuff.
Sorry, not been much help really have I

£5-£7k. Big miles and LHD would hold it back.
Back in the days when the SLs of this era were sought after, the SLCs were worth absolutely nothing, couldn't give them away. They traded at least 20% below the SLs. An SL of this era can be bought for that money - with much less mileage...but a lot are rotten under the skin of course.

A 500 SL in that condition would be minimum of £10k you might get a reasonable 280 SL for £7k.
That's worth every penny of £5k if its as good as it looks.

That's good to know - a mate has two SL500s - paid £5k for one and £3k for the other. OK so the second is white, but did have one lady owner...looks like he'll make a nice profit on them - typical car dealers eh....pm me if you're interested in buying either
Defo head over to http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/index.php and register there. I have (despite not owning a MB, yet) and there are some very knowledgeable and helpful people there.

Probably both sheds at that money. Can't see him being able to give away the white one, maybe strip it for parts.
