Does anyone know if you can get the key fob for a Mercedes C180 1998 Model reprogrammed??

Basically where the key comes out of the side, i think i've lost the clip to keep the top part in, where you change the batteries, as sometimes when i take my keys out of my pocket the fob falls off the key!!!

I have seen them for sale on eBay, but they will need to be reprogrammed, Mercedes have said this can't be done and want £146 for a replacement....ouch!!

Any ideas???

The Ebay ads are a load of cobblers, they can't be reprogrammed.

The key that came with the car originally has been replaced by a new smaller key, the metal slide isn't interchangeable with the new key so you'd need both bits.

If your key is the newer one, and it's just the little clip you move with your fingernail to get at the batteries you need, I can pop one in the post FOC if you want.

Thanks Sneijder

I think mines the older one, the newer ones i've seen on ebay seem to have a curved top, where as mines pretty much flat.

Thanks for the offer though, you've answered my other question though, was thinking of using the shell of the newer one, but if the key isn't interchangeable, then not much point, will have to put up with mine (glue it a mate said!!) or bite the bullet and pay Mercedes £146!!

Buy an identical one from Ebay, and cannibalise the innards. Then swap them over, so your existing key's innards are in the working Ebay key's case.
