After initially deciding to go for a Cayman last week I have now decided on an SLK 350 so I can enjoy open top motoring after a 7 year break from it.

So are there some must have options for resale or is it not so crucial on the SLK?

My current spec (assuming they have one in the system as I need it quickly) is..

DEFINITELY WANT
Manual Gearbox
Black
Leather (not too bothered on colour.... balck and red is my preferred but Alpaca Grey would aslo suffice)
Sports suspension

MAYBE ALSO
AMG Alloys and Body kit
Air Scarf
Command

Anything thing else I should consider or forget about. I know things like AMG body kit won't retain value but it's for me and I like it :-)

Cheers...Gary

Gary, from a trade point of view,[so that you will have some sort of reasonable resale price]. The 350SLK must be Auto with Command and Leather, extra bits like AMG Kit & alloys,
Air scarf, key less go, Pdc, Phone prep, will add to its desirability.

Do you really think manual is a mistake bearing in mind I'm going down the personal contract purchase route so will have a guaranteed value in 3 years and will trade in the car for another?

The dealers that say that an SLK MUST be auto, are usually the ones who have an auto on the forecourt.

The SLK is an exception to the "all Mercs must be auto" rule. Drive one and you'll see why.

Trade values suggest you'll get £1500-2000 less for a manual car, which isn't bad considering an auto will cost you £1600 or £1800 with the paddles.

Might be slightly more difficult to sell, but as my mate says... there's a bum for every seat!

Buy the 'box that suits where you drive and the one you prefer to use. Life's too short!

In that case it would be worth checking their buyback values for man or auto.
I find it interesting they will give you a guaranteed value in 3 years time, normally this would be tagged to Cap values so could not be guaranteed. Unless, you are doing a straight lease.

It's contract purchase and they are definitely guaranteeing the value in 3 years!

I take it yours is manual? I have only tried the auto as there are no manual cars at my dealership in Poole BUT having read the great reviews about the manual and talked to one other owner and being someone who would always go manual in a sports car it has to be manual for me!!
