Went out last night for a rare night-time drive, got flashed by several oncoming motorists when the headlamps were on dipped. Is this something anyone else has encountered?

Yes, on a few occasions I have checked allignment because of the flashing whilst, on other occasions I have had cars in front of me stick thier rear fog lights on or keep flashing them trying, to tell me to dip the lights. Its annoying

Get used to it. The next time someone does it, flash your main beam back. They won't do it again.

It tends to be jealous idiots who don't understand HID headlights and think they are too bright.
