When I was at Mercedes there was always the rumour that they'd put the V8 diesel from the ML420cdi and GL420cdi into the saloons but nothing official.

Mercedes did show a tractor SL 2 years ago :

Not heard much mutterings since, I suppose it would all hinge on petrol prices in Germany - have a quick look at a US MB Dealers stocklist and you'll only find a slack handfull of dervs on there.
