slk 55 traction control
Discussion
Hi there.
It is something Mercedes/AMG decided to do many years ago. I've heard many a time how annoying this system is.
Apparently, the new breed of AMG 63 engined car have a complete over-ride for the traction control and electronic stabililty programme. So when to hit the off button, it really means OFF!
As for an upgrade, I've personnally never heard of one, although I'm sure Mercedes or AMG would do it for you, given the money!
I suppose the best places to start is to ask your local Mercedes Dealer. I notice from your profile you're from Bournemouth, so the Mercedes website seems to think your nearest dealer is in Poole.
Mercedes-Benz of Poole
Holes Bay Road
BH15 2BD Poole
Tel. +44 845 120 4425
Fax +44 1202 666130
Another thing you could do is to email AMG through their website:LINKY HERE

Yes there is a simple and easy way...... that takes seconds.
I will email if you want, as im not going to be responsible posting openly and for Mercs all over the UK to have no safety devices on....
I would say dont do it on the public road, it becomes a mare as its cuts all ABS, traction etc

Seriously not recommeded for road use though as it turns off all brake assist functions too. I would also imagine it'll store a whole host of error codes that'll need erasing on a diagnostic machine.
You'll have fun with traction on to be fair !

I have use of my mates slk 55 for the next few weeks, its a lovely car but the traction control still ci=uts in when turned of, is there any where that can over ride this as it ruins a perfectly good slide. I have a TVR Sagaris so not used to interferance.
I take it your mates not aware that your gonna be sliding his around while hes away !! (Nice friend!)
