A class 140 engine cut off

Our A class 140 keeps cutting off. At first it occured when idling at a traffic light for instance. As time doesn't make things better it got worst and worst. At present it cuts off about 4 times a mile.
We are absolutely gutted of Mercedes, what shall we do fix and sell or else?
