Considering jacking in my BMW 328 Sport (E36) for a CLK 430.

What sort of prices are independant and/or dealer services? I gather there are two levels of service as opposed to BMW's three levels and that like the BMW, the Mercedes dictates service intervals dependant upon usage.
My BMW service intervals worked out to be around every 12k miles so I'd expect similar from the Merc.

Thanks.

CLK430 will have the ASSYST system - calculates service intervals based upon time, mileage and driving conditions.

There's two main service intervals that I'm aware of - A and B. Although there will be additional items required at other intervals as well (eg brake fluid every 2 years, spark plugs (60k miles?) etc)

If it's a '99 on car it can pay to keep a full MB service history to keep the 30-year corrosion and breakdown warranty intact (mobilio life)

Try and find a car that's got a full and up to date history, so that you don't inherit a money pit. They're pretty reliable overall, and independants can save you a fortune for the more mundane tasks (discs/pads/plugs etc etc)

As a guide, I'd say £2/300 for an 'A' service' and £4/500 (or more, depending on what needs replacing) for a 'B', probably 30-50% cheaper from an indi.

Good grunt from the 4.3 V8 as well, nice cars

i got my clk 430 six months ago. i must say its the best car ive ever owned. including company cars i must of had
over a hundred over the years.my car is the avantguard with all the toys .i would advise to get one with parking
sensors .once purchased check to see if the air mass is working correctly.if its not working you probably will not notice
as it does not always appear as a malfunction.this failure will cost you performance and fuel.the handling is the only downside to the car in my opinion, its probably because im used to driving mitsubishi evos.the performance is superb once rolling above 50 mph they will easily pass your standard impreza, evo ,type r etc. there is a lot of things i like about the car but the fuel economy tops the lot its fantastic.steady motorway jouneys will get 400 miles to the tank at 70 /80mph .if your into performance i would say the 279bhp 300lbs torque is decieving.with
the ESP OFF the car feels much quicker than factory performance figures.BONUS
