just got me a E320 coupe.
Discussion
bought this as my daily car to replace my 190e.wow, what a lot of bang for your bucks...1995, grey with tan leather. looks the part and drives perfectly. only 121k on it so i expect lots more to come...its the most comfortable car i've ever driven, really relaxing but up for it if one pushes on....whilst driving it i keep on pinching myself....all this for 3.5k???? there must be a catch?
Big slightly older mercs are in my opinion fantastically made, and great bargains to boot. The coupe's are completely timeless as well.
Sounds like you have a good un there. Nice one
ps. My big old chariot has nearly 310k on the clock, so plenty of life left in yours Doc.

Very nice.
There's one that parks on my street which has been fitted with the standard AMG monoblock-style wheels (as seen on the C36 AMG, old E55 AMG etc) and it looks horrible. These were 17" or so and seemed to raise the whole car off the ground like some off roader, and the low profile tyres look ridiculous. Please do not fit them to your car! I saw one on standard '15 hole' wheels at the weekend which looked soooo much nicer. They just don't suit bling aftermarket alloys, they're not exactly sporty looking!

I had a 95 E280 which IMO had the best build quality of all the Merc's I've driven to date. And the spec was incredible;
Metallic Silver
Black Leather Interior
Electric Heated Seats
Electric Windows x4
Electric Mirrors
Electric Sunroof
Electric Rear Headrests
ABS
Twin Airbags (very rare for year so no glove box!!)
Air Conditioning
Cruise Control
Traction Control (ASD)
Sports line Suspension
Headlamp Wash Wipe
Outside Temperature Gauge
Walnut Trim
Over Carpets
Tracker
Remote Full Closure Alarm / Immobiliser
CD Tuner
MiniDisc Changer
17” AMG Alloys
AMG Kick Plates
Apparently the bloke who spec'd it from new spent over £12K on extra's
Lovely cars and if looked after are a bloody bargain, the coupes are very nice

thanks all..as regards my other modes of transport...i'm not that flash. porsche has gone and ferrari is only for high days/holidays....i am just loving the drive to work in this motor...agree with the timelessness of the car's looks..ans am in big agreement with the alloys thing..she sits on original i think 8 hole alloys and looks a treat...i expect the bonnet has been off at some stage as the shut lines on one side are not micron perfect...but that would be nit picking...its got the twin airbags/air con/headlamp wash but no heated seats... gear box is beautifully smooth 5 speed.suprisingly , and if i use the tips of my toes only , she's fairly economical as well.am i right in saying these cars where something like 50k new???

Ehrm.. Yours looks better because it's facelift . Yours looks lower too, is it sportline?.. but really, this one down my road looks completely awful, shame because it's a nice 300-24 with leather and everything.

It has been lowered, but its not fitted with Sportline suspension (AFAIK). It has Carat Duchatelet bodykit, which leads me to suspect Carat suspension, although I do not know this. My garage says its not AMG suspension, as the springs are the wrong colour.
This 300CE-24 down your road, sounds as though it's suffering from the "tractor suspension syndrome". One guy on the E-Class Coupe/Cab forum had a E320 with 19" Brabus wheels and it suffered from the same disease! I see it as if you can afford the wheels/tyres for your car, make sure you can afford to lower it properly, too! (It also can't make it very nice to drive)

I have just picked up an E320 estate 97 variation (oval headlights) woth 110k on it
Odd thing is that I find myself itching to take it for a blast. How many times does that happen with an estate? I liked the 95 E220 we had (and had stolen, see other post) but this one is smooth with a capital smoo and it is frustrating that I haven't had chance to give it a decent run on the A roads. Maybe this weekend.
My older brother had an early Silver Shadow and there is something of a similarity between the two. Can't put my finger on it but it has the same feeling of silky power and endless top speed
There's just something about that 320 engine. I need to drive it, need it now.
