Just picked up my SLK350
Discussion
I've just bought and SLK350 which I picked up on Friday and what a car it is!
Having done around 250 miles so far (mainly a trip from Nottingham to London on a mix of roads) I'm so impressed by its ability to play at both being a tourer and a sportscar.
The engine has more reach than my old M3 (E36) and 328ci (E46) and refinement is pretty good too. The ride is a little nuggety at low speed (it's got sports suspension) but it evens out thereafter. The gearbox (manual) is a bit truculent going between 1st and 2nd (especially when cold) but it kind of helps add the sportscar edge to its character.
The interior is a great place to be and having all the gadgets will keep me amused for a while.
All in all, its already exceeded my expectations, the only downside being that rear de-mister didn't seem to work yesterday. I can't imagine that the Z4 Coupe that I was considering could match this.
Spec in full is:
Iridium silver
Black leather
AMG body kit and sports suspension
AMG wheels
COMAND
Phone prep. & cradle
Heated seats
Airscarf

PK - congrats on the new car...
My wife has an SLK280 on a 55 plate from new... spec'd up with virtually all the toys (obsidian black with beige leather)...
I have to say, it has been bullet-proof as far as reliability goes, and that's after 12,000 miles - an excellent car, still looks fabulous on the roads (miles ahead of all those coupe/cab wannabies.... and the airscarf makes it a great covertible experience in the winter sun!!!!
Enjoy....
Cheers,
John
