Anyone have any experiance of this beast ? I have considered M5 (but cant stand the SMG gearbox) S6 (looks like a standard A6 to much)E55(facelift about to come out which will make the existing model look old before its time)

I am now considering the CLS AMG as this would appear to be the most suitable alternative, so I am looking for some feed back on the performance, reliability, practicality and the joy's of ownership.

Thanks in advance

I'm biased selling Mercedes for a living but personally I really enjoyed the CLS55 I drove a while back, it was very swift for a big car but surprisingly nimble and driveable. The cabin was quiet most of the time until you started to give it some boot and then it came alive. I covered one section of road I know well faster in that than in anything else I've driven, and with the least fuss.

The only thing I would say is that due to the refinement it would be very easy to let the car creep up to licence losing speeds quite easily. A CLS63 and a lifetime subscription to Road Angel please cloud9

They are a fabulous car. Much nicer to use day to day than a M5.Got rid of my M5 after 5 months.Loved the previous models
If you fancy a Brabus K8 CLS 55 AMG instead of a standard AMG email me.
I've got the only RHD one in the UK. Approx 540 BHP.

Have you driven the 63 mark? How does it compare to the 55? Also, I take it that the spitfire like sound of the SL55 isn't as pronounced in the CLS? God I love that sound. Never actually heard it on full pelt in real life, only on videos.

BTW, I was in Harrogate looking at TVRs a while back, and somehow got it into my head that you worked at the Merc garage there, so trotted along to have a chat, to which I then was told that it was the York garage you worked at.

Don't know if you remember but along long time ago (circa 2004 when I first joined PH) We sent a few emails chatting about cars as I was thinking about getting.

Anyway...

I'm at York, Harrogate is the same company though. Glad to hear they didn't try and shark you as a Harrogate customer!

I was playing with an SL55 this aft, my god, what a noise. Talking to a mate this aft I said that it sounded like a Spitfire, then I realised what I'd said, more like an ME109 would be more appropriate.

I've driven a CLS55 but not a 63 yet, looking forward to getting one in at some point. I've driven the E63 which was simply amazing for a family saloon.
