SLK 320 manual v SLK AMG32
Discussion
I can't offer comment on the SLK, but I have the 32amg engine in my C class which is producing many a smile!!
The acceleration up to frightening speeds is staggering. The 320 wouldn't come close in that respect.
The C32 is my first ever car with auto transmittion, which I believe is shared with the SLK32. It can more or less be driven like a manual (minus the clutch), but it's so intuative that I rarely bother selecting a gear - the only exception being when I know I'm about to make an overtake and don't want to wait for kickdown. In that case, holding the lever to the left for two seconds will auto select the most appropriate gear for accelertion at your current speed and keep it locked there until you hit the limiter.

Ahh yes........but a 320 will never induce the insane grin you get the first time you floor the pedal in a 32AMG. In that car with that engine I would sacrifice the manual shift. If you are tracking the car then I can see your point, but that extra 140 horses and low down torque gives me goose pimples. Drive them back to back if you can....
