Through reading a few topics on here just wondering if any of you have tuned your mercs.

Im just looking into getting a supercharger and manifold, maybe exhaust.

I was seeing which companies you found best, which have the best performance/reliability.

Been looking at the kleemann, carlsson or even brabus tuning.

Any input is gratefully received

Superchargers (Carlsson/Kleemann) are obviously cheaper that engine enlargements (Brabus).

I think there are a few people on here with Mercs tuned by the said tuners, however I'm not sure there are any specifically with the 3.2 18v V6.

Don't forget in costs any necessary brake/suspension/wheels upgrades as well

Tuned Mercedes are not often heard of in the same way as Subarus and Fords, however I am regularly surprised to hear of/see for sale 300E turbos, 500SL turbos, 190E turbos and so on.
Usually these look totally standard so you would never know the modifications. So it's not impossible or even that rare.

I think they're well suited to it as the engines are generally naturally very tough.

However because there's no standard packages available UK-wide I think it's expensive (compared to tuning a Skyline or a Golf) - you'd have to pay someone to do a custom system, or go to Brabus/Kleeman etc who aren't cheap.

The results would be brilliant though .

I'll have to do a fair bit of research into tuning it, notice a few of the americans have done quite a bit of tuning.

Just haven't seen many in this country.

Well I'll see which way system is going to perform best or maybe even see about designing my own.

Will keep you all informed once I get started

Mercedes/AMG of course do a supercharged version of your 3.2 V6 in the SLK/C 32 AMG.
Could be worth sourcing one of those?
I believe you can pick up the superchargers off the four-cylinder engines (SLK230 Kompressor etc) quite cheaply on ebay (though I'm not suggesting those would work).

Out of interest, do Kleeman get much out of N/A cars without going to forced induction?
When they go to forced induction, do they need to make changes to internals?

Don't suppose they do anything for 16v cosworth 190Es?

How come your biased?

Just received some info on Carlsson of which they give me absolutely zero details on anything other than superficial things.

So not too impressed after emailing me to say they give me details on their tuning products.

Does anyone know why all current systems are either increased deplacement, brabus and keeping NA or Superchargers for FI systems.

Why no turbo systems? Any particular reason.

I cant seem to find much details on the strength of the standarrd engine, anyone know where I may find details?

Cost? Reliability?

Maybe a supercharger works better than a turbo on the 18v V6? Tuners used to use turbos on the straight 6s. Brabus's forte has been engine displacement enlargements. I believe Carlsson used to do a 3.8 enlargement of the 3.2 V6.

I'm sure there are companies out there who will do a custom turbo job on your car, if its a turbo you want driving

As for the bias view above, I would have to say what I've read about Kleemann, they give you more power for your money, easy installations as well as an efficient and reliable supercharger system.
