Looking at a 2000 C Class estate as a tow car, has high mileage, but keep reading that the engines can do stellar mileage.
So if serviced regularly what are we talking before emissions, turbo, oil burning lack of power become a problem. 200k 300k?

Anything else to look out for on these? it seems a bit scabby on the doors and tailgate.

Cheers

No idea about the engine (sorry) but if it's got full MB service history at that age it should be covered by Mobilo so the doors/tailgate should be repaired by MB (unless it's accident damage).

Hi

Interesting, it does have MB service history, only in the form of printouts of invoices, service book cant be found, I know it sounds dodgy but its a one owner car so may be worth looking up I suppose. How long is the bodywork warranty

I sold my old C250TD at 217,000 miles. I was still running beautifully and never needed any major work done to it (or much minor for that matter).

My 300TD at 174000 is still going strong. There is a chap on the MBclub forums who ran one with 400k on the clock - thats miles - and it was still absolutely perfect, no smoke or 'owt.

If its had regular oil changes, if it doesn't chuck out white/blue smoke, it'll be allright.

Bodywork warranty is 30 years, as lond as is serviced at MB basically, this is for post 1999 cars covered by MobiloLife (it will say it in the handbook) which is also a free roadside assistance scheme.

Thanks for the replies, I will have to get hold of the lease company to see if I can get the service book or handbook. I would have thought they would have had the work done if possible though but there you go.

Any recomedations on Towbars for a C Class? also how many keys should it have?

Cheers

Joe

As I recall mine had 2 proper keys and a temporary key that just opened the doors.

Bit of a shame really went to collect it, checked the paperwork and it turned out to be a 99 not a 2000, Dealer not willing to adjust the price despite advertising it as a 2000 so I walked.

The search continues.

Thanks for all the advice.
