Warranties make money for the person selling the warranty. If overall, they benefitted the customer, they wouldn't sell them.

Take your car to an independant Mercedes garage, get it serviced there. You'll save thousands in the long run.

Can Mercedes warranties be extended each year like Porsche? Are warranty prices the same for all models? I guess not with such a wide range. What are respective costs to extend an 55AMG/65AMG warranty each year?

I think there's some confusion going on in this thread.

Are you talking about a service contract from MB, like Service, or ServicePlus, or are you talking about an Extended Warranty?

Well you can check the price by calling MB and asking them. There's a page on their website.
You can estimate its value as you either know already, or can ask your local dealer, how much services are, how much to change pads and discs etc.

Service Plus has been discussed extensively on the MB forums, the main issue seems to be the extent of the coverage. It seems to cover almost anything that fails on the car 'through wear and tear'. I think the devil is in the definition of 'wear and tear' and there will be people who get Service Plus claims denied because something else caused the failure.

Having said that, if you can get a Service Plus quote that in a similar ball-park to your likely servicing costs, then it's probably worth going for it as it gives you at least some protection against things going wrong. You'd really need Service Plus AND an Extended Warranty to give you total protection.
