how hard is it to find a sl55?
Discussion
Have been looking for an sl55 or sl 600 for a while now and as soon as i get interested in a decent one with a decent spec at a decent price from a decent MB dealer not too far from zig zag hill in Dorset, some other git gets their deposit down and beats me to it - so could you please leave at least one decent car for me??

There's a guy from down your way who's had the same trouble - he ended up buying one from nr Liverpool.

Second hand are cheap (like mine!)

ANGUS
any idea how many RHD cars have been brought into the UK? Thinking a few years down the road as a used car bargain.
BTW, what's tempting you away from your SL65?
DAZ
Not sure, but probably less than 50, and as yet I have yet to hear about another red one!
Nothing is tempting me away apart from having to cut my cloth... Not been a good year
Look on www.autotrader.co.uk where you will find some very nice CL600s for <£50k.
The biturbo may be over 100 brake shy of The Holy Roman Angus Mobile but it will stand you in good stead to be going on with, whistle you with 55 AMG ease to 60 in about 4.7 and contend for the twin ton if delimited.
I don't know what Rob at DMS can do to this engine spec but Kleeman can tweak it (sorry, Daz, can't help myself) off the scale, judging by Markbe's VMax runs and that would be the ultimate stealthosaurus.
Hope you're ok, Angus - maybe pop over for rat au vin for a commemorative Brunterschorn? I, for one, have missed your eminence.

We had an Obsidian Black 65 just like that in the showroom last year, and it was fantastic. Can't say I drove it on the road, but just moving it around was a treat - it made a proper rumble and steamed up the windows with its exhaust in no time, no 55 could do that.
They do like to be driven tho', leave them too long and the electrics throw a bit of a wobbly. We had a DB7 in at the same time, and the SL made it rather ordinary in comparison.
The only thing lacking from the SL is a big red start button, but I suppose the keyless go is halfway there.
Phatgixer, I seem to remember your gorgeous red example being derestricted, is that true ? I'm sure you Vmaxed it too, what did it make ?

Nice !, Was that the one that was on the telly ?, I think that one had a couple of Ruf's on it.
Think the TV one was the previous VMAX VII. Earlier in the day Tiff did "compliment" phatgixer on his driving style although the car wasn't running at full power that day.
