We have had a 320CDi CLS for about 2 months. It's my wifes car and although I am a complete petrolhead, we drove the diesel first. Didn't even bother driving the petrol after that! I couldn't see any reason to.The diesel is whisper quiet, incredibly smooth, more economical ( wife is getting about 35mpg and thats mainly school/short trips)will have better resale, and amazingly even has a lovely note to it.There appear to be certain things that you are going to need for an easier resale (i.e. Command, wheel upgrade, parktronic, memory seats),and don't expect your Merc. dealer to be anything other than censoreduseless ( although no doubt present company excepted!)Had my first real drive today, a return trip of 160 miles to Legoland and the car was lovely. Good Luck!

What about a one year old fully loaded CLS500 with about five and a half thousand miles on the clock for less than the equivalent new 350 or 320?

I would not bother because you will suffer the curse of unreturned calls/emails and amnesia that all main dealer staff appear to offer...I cannot go into details due to name and shame policy on this site...but plying for trade on this website is naughty
