I've been offered the following lease car: E320 CDI Avantgarde Auto (straight six 204 BHP version) on 05 plate with P11D value of £40k. It's black with grey nappa leather.

The net cost is £550 per month (through company car scheme) including EVERYTHING tax, maintenance, insurance and unlimited mileage etc. The lease needs 12 months to run but is flexible up to 3 years.

Is this a deal worth going for or is am I better looking elsewhere.

Thanks in advance.

I believe the gremlins on the early W211's have now been sorted out, and that they're now damn good cars.

The engine isn't as reliable as the OM606, but is still a belter by all accounts.

Is that £550 *extra* - ie, can you get a car at net cost £0?

No, that's the full cost.

I've got it now and it'd great.

The £550 is the difference to my net pay if I take the car. I think it would be aroun £700 to lease, £100 for insurance, and servicing and mileage charges on top. All in all, I think £550 is a corking deal

Sounds good - it's the 'peace of mind' benefit of someone else picking up the bills that is most valuable.

Did you have the option of 'opting out' and taking cash instead? Works best if you do mainly business miles, but in my case it basically works out that my company is buying me a Mercedes at no cost to me. The only downside is that I own the car, and therefore bear all of the risk.
