Hi,

I've got an SLK55 AMG which came with the prewiring for the phone. I could buy the holder as someone says but would have to get a new phone. I could buy the bluetooth things AND a new phone a(I believe the blutooth gadget only works with some forms of phone).

The thing is that the car already has bluetooth in it. You can gety the car to search for bluetooth signals , it wil find my phone (motorola vx3) and actually pair with it.

Unfortunately, it doesn't then register as connected.

Does anyone know if this is because of the limited bluetooth protocol that MB uses or was the onboard bluetooth just not intended for this purpose.

I don't really want to buy a new phone with the correct protocol unless I'm sure it will work.

Incidently, how on earth do you get technical advice from MB, the dealerships are pretty useless most of the time for anything like this ?

Thanks

The installed Bluetooth doesn't have any usuable functionality (some people say it will talk to a PDA, or a Bluetooth headset, but I'm not sure).

Have a look here (you might need to register?):

I know there's an issue that it still only works with a very limited number of phones that support rSAP.

Thanks, Actually managed to get through to someone who seemed to know what they were talking about at MB tech support. It is much as you said, limited functionality but he said that you could link a computer to uploadaddresses & phone numbers from a laptop/pda. I've tried the pda with no luck. He did suggest that it may require the new bluetooth module that fits into the phone cradle to do anythibng. Seems annoyingly pointless having it to me if you can't do owt with it !!!
