That is interesting. That's not all coming from the VIN number being decoded, but from the factory records. There are two options on the E320 which have no description (codes 668 and 833). I think one of those might be the electric folding rear headrests but I can't think what the other one is. Also there's this rather peculiar sounding option (code 955): "extension tube on the roof, front equipment package elegance (с 01.11.1991)". What on earth is that?

Sometimes it comes up with an error message for me. Just hitting 'back' and hitting the 'search' button again usually works though. The SLK isn't in there because their database only goes up to early 2005.

I've solved my mysteries already. 668 is "Packing for transport", 833 is "Additional parts for U.K. vehicle version" and 955 just means "Equipment package Elegance".

Steve,

668 Just describes the way the car was transported on delivery
833 Means it had 'Additional parts for UK', that'll just be the owners books

955 Always means Elegance, sometimes the codes get a bit jumbled and our computers are always telling us a customers W211 E Class has a folding roof. I found a way of viewing every code Mercedes have used once on a quiet day and found some intresting ones such as gun mountings for the front doors on an S Class, and loads of test mules, including the odd Brabus.

Ha ha thanks anyway! I found a site with a comprehensive list here:

www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/5350/mbcodes.htm

Unfortunately it's down now though.
