I've used the COMAND system on an 04 plate ML, the problem being that Merc didn't keep up with current phone models and your left either using an old phone or retro fitting bluetooth (which defeats the object of having Command).

How does the current Command phone system work, can you use any phone as Im toying with the idea of buying a new CLK cabriolet? (My current phone is a Nokia 6280.)

With current telephone prewire you buy a cradle to suit the handset you use, your phone then drops into the cradle (which on a CLK is in the centre armrest). Your phonebook entries appear on the main screen on the dashboard, inside the speedo, and you can use the send and end buttons on the steering wheel to make and receive calls. Cradles are £131 and the range is updated quite regularly so modern handsets are useable.

I've emailed you through your profile.

Mercedes have just released a Bluetooth device that works with the Nokia 6230, 6230i, 8800, Siemens S65, SK65, S75 & SL75. This plugs into the armrest, like the conventional cradle. Part number is B67875840, £301.89 + VAT. If you're constantly jumping in and out of the car, it might be worth it for convenience and I have seen quite a few conventional cradles fail due to the contact pins getting mangled from over use.

MB's Bluetooth support seems even worse than their 'physical' cradle support!

I'm still using my trusty 6310i (people now pretty well always comment when they see it). I gathered all the old ones from work in case it ever packs up!!

Thats the phone (6310) I still have to use in the ML. You would think Merc would have thought it through by now. My BMW system is far superior.

Hi,

I've got an SLK55 AMG which came with the prewiring for the phone. I could buy the holder as someone says but would have to get a new phone. I could buy the bluetooth things AND a new phone a(I believe the blutooth gadget only works with some forms of phone).

The thing is that the car already has bluetooth in it. You can gety the car to search for bluetooth signals , it wil find my phone (motorola vx3) and actually pair with it.

Unfortunately, it doesn't then register as connected.

Does anyone know if this is because of the limited bluetooth protocol that MB uses or was the onboard bluetooth just not intended for this purpose.

I don't really want to buy a new phone with the correct protocol unless I'm sure it will work.

Incidently, how on earth do you get technical advice from MB, the dealerships are pretty useless most of the time for anything like this ?

Thanks
