Discussion
Hi all once again ..... I have seen a CL that I like the look of ...its an 03 ....so has all the interior and exterior face lift bits .....but is fairly high millage ...(75k with FMBSH) should I walk away or take the plunge? Am I going to regret buying a high millage car ...baring in mind that I only drive about 5k a year??

Snaz, its all down to colour and price, but I would aim for 50k miles if poss.
Regards Mark.
I have driven (1 or 2, can't remember?) W220's with over 200,000 miles on, and you really would not know. The air suspension just did not seem to be affected, the only thing is the interior does not seem to wear well, looks tatty and things break in a way they shouldn't in an S-class, also rust was very much set in on one car I drove (bootlid) so check for that.
They are the S-class on which the current CL is based. I don't see how 75k miles is a problem, unless you like the feel of something with a nice low mileage (which is nice). If it's a great saving to be had and you could do something useful with the money saved, I say get it .

I've heard it said that if your annual usage is low, buying a higher milage car is not a bad idea if you intend to keep it a while, as the mileage becomes more in line with its age the longer you keep it. I wouldn't be scared by higher mileage personally. History, spec and condition are the most important things. Having said that, every 10,000 mile interval clocked up is another pyschological step for potential buyers to take. However mileage in itself shouldn't be a problem. My E is on 106K now and everything works, no rust, mint interior, drives nicely, etc.
Just thought I would let you all know that I dealt yesterday and am now the proud new owner of an 03 CL500 in brilliant silver with all the bells and whistles!!!!......fantastic peice of kit .....must say a special thanks to Mark Mullen (fellow PHer) for all his assistance...really put my mind at ease, hope you have made it to Le Mans this w/e sir!!
Also thanks to all of you on this forum who have put up with my endless questions ...thanks for all your replies
cheers

Glad you're pleased with it, they're a nice bit of kit aren't they?
Sadly I've not made Le Mans, the chap coming to have a look at my Porsche now can't make it till Tuesday so unless something miraculous turns up today or tomorrow it looks like no Le Mans for me this year
Enjoy the CL
